3D Dinosaur Biscuits

Hello Everyone!
This week's blog post is for super cute yet super simple 3D Dinosaur Biscuits. These biscuits were quick to make and only require a few ingredients, so let's get started with the step-by-step tutorial...

The ingredients required:
  • 115g of butter
  • 85g of caster sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 200g plain flour
  • A handful of chocolate chips (optional)

The equipment required:

This set of cookie cutters allows you to make four different types of dinosaurs. Each different one is colour co-ordinated which helps when you're trying to assemble the biscuits later on.

1. The first step in making the biscuits is to preheat your oven to 200degrees/gas mark 6.

2. Next you need to cream the butter and sugar together in your mixer.

3. Once the butter and sugar are incorporated you can add your egg yolk and mix again.

4. The final step in making the dough is to add the flour.

5. You should now easily be able to scoop up the mixture and form a smooth dough.

6. Roll out your dough and cut out your dinosaurs. Don't forget that you'll need to cut two legs for each dinosaur (except for the T-Rex).

7. When you've placed the dinosaurs onto your tray you can take a chocolate chip and press it into the dough to look like an eye. I find it best to stick the chocolate chip in using the pointed side so that the exposed part/ the eye will be flat and smooth.

8. Bake the biscuits for 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown.

9. When your biscuits are finished baking you need to leave them for about 30minutes so that they can completely cool.

10. The last step is to assemble the dinosaurs!

Even though the cookie cutters created good shapes for the dinosaurs I found that the pieces didn't connect as easily as I would have thought. I needed to cut tiny bits off of the dinosaur legs to allow them to slot in. After getting them to slot in, when you pick them up the legs aren't able to stay connected.  Therefore if you were making these for an event I would recommend taking the pieces with you and assembling  them when you arrive at the venue.

Unfortunately the neck of my T-Rex broke and  I was unable to salvage him with some writing icing :(

Here's some more pictures of the finished biscuits:

I think these biscuits would be great to bake with children as they can decorate them however they want with writing icing and sprinkles etc.
Thank you all so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post! :)
