Marbled Double Chocolate Loaf Cake

Hello Everyone!
Welcome back to the blog for this week's post; marbled chocolate loaf with melted chocolate on top! The cake is quite quick to prepare but bakes for approximately one hour making it the perfect evening treat
So let's get started...

You will need:

  • 175g butter
  • 175g caster sugar
  • 140g self-raising flour
  • 85g ground almonds
  • 0.5tsp baking powder
  • 100ml milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2tbsp cocoa powder
  • 50g melted milk chocolate
  • 50g melted white chocolate

1. Preheat the oven to 160°CCream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy

2. Add the flour, baking powder, almonds and milk and mix again

3. Next add the eggs, one at a time, mixing until well combined

4. Evenly separate the mixture between two bowls. Add the cocoa powder to one bowl so you have half plain mixture and half chocolate. I did this not so evenly and my mixture ended up being mainly chocolate

5. Take ice-cream scoop amounts of the alternating mixtures and place them into the loaf tin. When you have used up all of the mixture, use a knife to swirl the mixtures together, creating a marble-like pattern

6. Bake in the oven for 60 minutes

7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack

8. Melt the white and milk chocolate. I placed the chocolate in thick stripes over the cake top. Then I dragged a toothpick lengthways through the chocolate. I dotted some excess white chocolate onto the milk sections and vice versa. I dragged the toothpick through the chocolate again but this time I went sideways. Allow to set before slicing and enjoying!

And you're finished!
Thank you for reading another post and I'll be back again soon :)
